Sarah and Sara met through work and forged a wonderful friendship. Along the way it became clear that they had a love of working with people. Over time it became clear they had a shared vision for creating a family friendly space.Crumbs & Cuddles grew from a tiny seed of having a play space to the CIC that provides support, information and a nurturing environment that it has become today. As a CIC (Community Interest Company) all surplus income from the business is reinvested back in to the company for the benefit of the community. This may take the form of free sessions for disadvantaged families; antenatal classes and advice sessions; free sensory room hire along with other needs that may arise. We are working in partnership with local businesses, health professionals and support groups to provide the best and broadest solutions to problems families encounter. We are constantly evolving and open to communication from individuals and groups who may feel they will benefit by working together.

Sara

Sara was a community midwife for 20 years and a ‘lockdown mum’ whose lived experience and professional insight make her uniquely placed to support families. As a parent of two neurodiverse boys, she understands first-hand the challenges of finding appropriate activities and spaces that offer genuine support — especially at sociable, accessible times. Her role will focus on child and parent wellbeing, offering a safe and nurturing environment not just for children, but for parents, carers, and grandparents alike. With a deep understanding of emotional and mental health needs, Sara will lead the development of sensory-friendly zones, quiet spaces, and informal peer support initiatives — all designed to foster connection and reduce isolation among new mothers.
“As an adoptive mum, becoming a first-time mum was an incredible experience, but I also discovered just how isolating it can sometimes feel — particularly when your child is too old for the usual baby groups and classes aren’t quite the right fit.Finding the playgroup, run by Sara, was a real lifeline for us. It gave us somewhere to go, people to meet and a community to be part of. That experience is one of the reasons I am so excited to become part of the Crumbs & Cuddles team. I know first-hand how valuable a welcoming space like this can be for families.Outside of Crumbs & Cuddles, you’ll usually find me with a dog nearby, a coffee in hand and, ideally, a slice of cake too! I’ve been lucky enough to sample Sarah’s cakes — and I can happily vouch for just how delicious they are!”
